We welcome another weekend of football with open arms. This is your weekly preview of the football games to come.
On Saturday, the Premier League has some exciting fixtures. And, out of all these fixtures, Chelsea vs Manchester United is the one that stands out. Chelsea is looking to improve their form after an irregular start to the season with glaring defensive problems whereas Manchester United looks to build upon their last two wins which came against PSG and Newcastle. First placed Aston Villa take on Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds and as for West Ham, it is a tough fixture against Manchester City. On Sunday, Liverpool takes on Sheffield without their talisman, Virgil van Dijk. High flying Everton goes away to Southampton whereas Newcastle goes away to Wolves. Arsenal takes on Leicester on Monday and look to break into the top 4.
In Germany’s first division, Stuttgart take on Koln at the Mercedes-Benz Arena whereas Leipzig take on Hertha Berlin. The highlight of this weekend’s games is the Revierderby, where fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund take on Schalke 04 at the Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund’s star Erling Haaland will be looking to add to his goal tally against Schalke. Bayern take on Eintracht Frankfurt. On Sunday, Wolfsburg take on Arminia whereas Werder Bremen rake on Hoffenheim.
This La Liga weekend is one of the most exciting weekends of the year. The most popular game in the history of club football makes its comeback. Real Madrid travel to Barcelona to take on their fiercest historic rivals. Both teams are not on the best of runs right now, but Barcelona have a cheat code in Lionel Messi. Valencia take on Elche away and will be trying to end their poor form. Sevilla take on Eibar while Athletic Club take on Osasuna. On Sunday, Atletico Madrid take on Real Betis while Unai Emery’s Villarreal try to cement their position at the top of the league.
In the Italian top flight, Atlanta take on Sampdoria while Genoa take on Inter Milan. Ciro Immobile will be looking to fire Napoli into the fight for the top spot of Serie A in their clash vs Benevento. Cagliari take on Crotone and Parma take on Spezia. Udinese travel to Florence to play against Fiorentina while Juventus take on Verona. Table leaders Milan will be looking to solidify their lead at the top of the table with a win against Roma.
In France’s first division, Breton club Rennes take on Angers in the first game of the weekend. Lorient take on Marseille whereas Nantes take on RC Lens. PSG will be looking for Neymar and Mbappe to find form after their unexpected defeat to Manchester United in the UCL. They take on Dijon. Sunday is also the day of two important matches, Nice go up against table toppers Lille, and Lyon play Monaco at home.
